Wounded Knee
On the morning of December 29, 1890, the Sioux chief Big Foot and some 350 of his followers camped around the creek of Wounded Knee. The U.S troops surrounded the camp with his troops disarming Big Foot and his followers while arresting Big Foot.
Laws to help American Indians
On September 13, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the "Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples." The next law was the Indian Civil Rights Act 1968- Guaranteed civil rights to all American Indians. The last law that helped the American Indians was; American Indian Religious Freedom Act 1978- Allowed free practice of religion for any American Indian.
